Robin hood

Robin Hood
People have told stories about Robin Hood for more than 700 years.
Nobody knows if he was a real person or an invented character. In the
legends, Robin was extremely intelligent and had a playful sense of
humour. He loved playing tricks on people.
‘Pick a card, any card!’
The stories say that Robin Hood was a skilled archer and he always
carried a bow and arrow.
‘Ha Ha, too easy!’
He wore green clothes and a hat with a green feather. He lived in Sherwood Forest with a group of
outlaws, or criminals, known as his ‘Merry Men’. The group included Friar Tuck, ‘Mmm, yummy!’, Little
John, who was unusually tall, ‘Little is just my nickname!’, and Robin’s true love, Maid Marian. ‘Take
that!’
Sherwood Forest was a royal hunting forest near Nottingham in England. Most people thought that
forests were dangerous places to go. People travelling through the forests were often robbed by
outlaws.
‘Your money, please, my Lord!’
‘Oh no, it’s Robin Hood!’
The stories say that Robin Hood only took money from rich people so that he could give it to people
who needed it. So he became famous for ‘robbing from the rich and giving to the poor’.
‘Here you are, my dear.’
‘Oh, thank you, Robin!’
The Sheriff of Nottingham was Robin’s arch-enemy. It was the sheriff’s job to keep the woods safe
and to make sure that nobody stole the king’s deer.
‘What’s that? Is that Robin Hood?’
The Sheriff of Nottingham tried to catch Robin Hood, but never succeeded.
‘Oh no, not again!’
Centuries ago people loved to tell each other stories of Robin Hood. Later he became a famous
character in books, and nowadays Robin is still a well-loved hero in literature, theatre, TV and films.

Bees and Balls

We know the saying “as busy as a bee,” but we don’t know how bees play. Scientists found one way. They did tests on bees and found they liked playing with small balls. The bees played like humans. Young bees played with more balls than old bees. Adult males played with balls for longer than females did.

There were 45 bumblebees in the tests. They had two choices. One was to go straight to a sugary treat. The second was to get to the treat after going around small balls. Most of the bees played with the balls first. A researcher said bees have feelings. She added that the minds of insects are more advanced than we thought.

The Wind and the Sun

The wind and the sun are having a disagreement.
“I am the most powerful!” says the wind.
“No, I am the most powerful!” says the sun.

“I can blow trees to the ground!” . “I can push ships across the ocean.-օվկիանոս

“Is that right?” replies-պատասխանել the sun. “Well, I can melt-հալվել all the snow on the mountains-սարեր. I can dry up a lake.

Just then, they see a man walking along-միջով the road in his winter jacket .

“Let’s have a contest-մրցույթ to see who is more powerful,” says the wind. “Whoever can remove-հանել the man’s jacket first-առաջին wins.”

The sun agrees.
The wind goes first. He blows-փչել a gust of cold wind at the man.

The man shivers-փշաքաղվեր and zips up-ցեփը բարձնացնել his jacket. “Brrr! What a cold and windy day!”

It starts to rain. The wind blows even harder and turns the rain into snow.

“Well look at that! It’s snowing!” says the man. “Snow wasn’t in the weather forecast-եղանակի տեսություն today…”
He pulls his hood-գլխարկ over his head.

The wind blows his strongest gust towards the man, but the man’s jacket stays on.
«Hmm. It’s a bit fresh-թարմ today…” he says. “A winter storm-փոթորիկ must be coming…» He zips the jacket higher to cover-ծածկել his nose.

“Gah! This is impossible,” says the wind. He stops blowing.
“My turn!”-իմ հերթն է says the sun.

First the sun shines enough to stop the snow. The man unzips his hood.

Then the sun pulls the clouds apart and gently-մեղմ shines down on the man. Suddenly-հանկարծ, it is a beautiful spring day.

“Wow. The weather sure is strange-տարօրինակ around here!” says the man. He unzips his jacket.

The sun gently wiggles her fingers and increases the temperature.

“What strange weather. Now it feels like summer!” the man says as he begins to sweat. «Goodness me, it’s so hot!»

He removes his winter jacket. He lies down on the grass for a nap in the warm sun.
